This painting captures the power of a wave as it pounds the coast transforming rocks into smooth sand. It is not of a specific place but does capture a typical scenario played out at night around the New Zealand coastline. It also portrays the wonderful effects of moonlight on colours at sea with parts seemingly luminous as all the colours get reflected.

The message in this painting at the foot of the wave comes from 2 Samuel 22 v 29 and it reads: The Lord turns my darkness into light.
