Rangitoto Island in this scene is being viewed from under pohutukawa trees at Murrays Bay on Auckland’s North Shore. The trees are throwing dappled shade on a sunny day. This painting captures the foreshore of Murrays Bay beach close to the township and near the pier. The message in the foreground comes from Psalm 119 v 105 and it reads: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
